FREDERICK DOUGLASS SPEAKS ON DEMOCRACY

Plowshare Peace Center will be offering a program on Frederick Douglass, the abolitionist, on Sunday, February 27 at 7 PM, through Zoom. It will be free.

Plowshare hopes people, especially students, may be interested in the Frederick Douglass program, especially as it is Black History Month. Here is more information on the program:

FREDERICK DOUGLASS SPEAKS ON DEMOCRACY

Sunday, February 27, 2022, 7 – 8 PM, VIA ZOOM

A one-hour presentation in which Nathan Richardson as Frederick Douglass speaks for 20 minutes in vivid detail about his life as a slave, his escape to freedom and his rise as a great writer, orator and abolitionist. Mr. Douglass will recite brief four to five minute excerpts from any of the following historic speeches; “What to the Slave is the 4th of July”, “The Speech on the Dred Scott Decision”, “Oration in Memory of Abraham Lincoln”, “Self-Made Men” or “Women’s Suffrage”. Mr. Douglass will also talk about his love for democracy and the United States Constitution. Children in the audience will be inspired by Douglass’ love for reading, writing and education. The program ends with an unscripted Q & A session between Mr. Douglass and the audience.
