January 2017

Plowshare Peace Center is having a busy month!  On January 7 we co-sponsored the Sierra Club Climate Change vigil.  On January 11 our Finance Committee met to talk about our financial support.  On January 14 a planning meeting occurred to organize the Teen Peace Jam, our annual youth conference.   (The Jam will take place on April 8 at the Roanoke Unitarian-Universalist Church).  On January 18 Plowshare showed the film “1971” at the Grandin Theater, co-sponsored with the Roanoke Library.  On January 21 Plowshare supporters participated in the Inaugural protests, both in Roanoke and Washington DC.  Also on January 21 we held our monthly silent peace vigil in front of the City Market Building.  On January 23 our Outreach Committee and Program Committee met to plan further outreach and programs.  (A Civil Disobedience Training workshop is coming this spring).  A busy time!
